So here we are in the month of December!
It's been by all accounts a crazy year! We have seen many changes. Some for the good, some not so good but we have also seen greatness! This is a year where many of our loved one's both near to us and in the public heart and mind have passed on leaving us feeling thier loss profoundly. This is a year where devasting floods, earthquakes and fires have racked the planet. Acts of shocking violence have torn our comunities apart and mended ties within some. We have seen political turmoil and a disturbing rise in intolerance. In the wake of this though we have also seen the rise of new movements for justice. The Lakota Sioux Nation have fought a battle to protect thier water from a corporate plan to complete a pipeland on sacred land and they won! We have seen many indigenous people from all all over the globe come together in this effort. Amidst the violence we have also seen amazing acts of solidarity and peace. Let us keep ever watchful of our waterways and resist any acts of brutality towards our beautiful planet and it's peoples. In the world of science we have seen advancements in space, solar and medical technologies. In such times as these it is hard to remember the good. I urge you all to stay postive no matter what for there in such attitudes is where our power dwells. In this time where many celebrate holy days I can not stress enough the importance of prayer and meditation in our lives. Take time in the chaos of your day to relax, stretch out, light a candle and inhale the sweet fragrance of flowers or the rain scenting the air, wonder at the sunrise, the sunset the phases of the moon, the turning leaves (still happening here in the Southern states) the new falling snow, embrace your loved ones, call a friend and spend time with a stranger in need of a friend. Give to your community to other communities and stand for what you know is true and just for all. Live from your heart and feed your mind with wonderful knowledge. Listen to new sounds and drink in the silence May your days and nights be filled with comfort and joy ~Anni
